Photoshop: Lightning Strike

Lightning never strikes twice in the same spot. Well, this tutorial will show you how to make a lightning strike in one spot, at least.

1. Create a new file and press D to restore the default colours (black and white). Apply a gradient using the Gradient Tool.

2. Go to Filter -> Render and select Difference clouds.

3. Now go to Image -> Adjustments -> Levels and drag the pointer of the Input Levels to the left until you get to a value around 4.50.

4. Invert the colours by going to Image -> Adjustments -> Inverse or by pressing Ctrl+ “i”.

5. Adjust the coloring and the contrast (Image -> Adjustments) and you’re done.
